How To Wax Your Eyebrows At Home

While I think tweezing is a better way of shaping your eyebrows, some people prefer to wax. Waxing is a popular way of eyebrow shaping because it is fast, easy, and less painful than plucking. Here are some steps for easy DIY at home waxing.

There are different types of hair removal waxes that you can buy. Look for one that’s made for delicate skin or for use around the eye area. These waxes will melt at a lower temperature and won’t burn your skin unlike normal wax. Using heated wax that you apply yourself is better than prewaxed strips since you can control where the wax goes and how it grips onto the hairs.

First, you should make sure the eyebrow hairs you want to remove are at least 1/8″ long. You will want to brush your eyebrows with an eyebrow comb and make sure that any long hairs that you don’t want to be removed don’t end up overlapping the hairs you will be waxing off. Cleanse your skin and apply some powder or corn startch to keep the wax from sticking to your skin. Then apply the wax to the areas where you want to remove the hair. Apply only a little bit, as soon as you press down, the wax will spread and you risk ripping off more hair than you originally intended.

Apply the strip and rub in the direction of hair growth. Rub firmly two or three times. Hold your skin taut with one hand and with the other hand grab the strip at the end end rip it off against the direction of hair growth. You’ll want to rip like you’re pulling a zipper, pull across your skin instead of pulling up.

Do the same for other areas where you want to remove stray hairs. Repeat the process for the other eyebrow. Fine tune and remove stubborn hairs with a pair of tweezers. Afterwards, avoid irritating your skin with makeup brushes or any chemicals or makeup for at least 8 hours.
